| "ALL MY LIFE IS DIVIDED IN TWO PERIODS: BEFORE FSB AND AFTER" |
He was born on July 19, 1956. At 12 started studying violin in the classes of his famous father Prof. Boyan Lechev. He graduated the School of Music in Sofia in 1975 and the Academy of Music in 1981. He made a great repertoire of violin plays, performed many solo concerts, participated with the Academic Symphony Orchestra, prepared for the prestigious international contest "P.I.Tchaykovsky". He played the guitar simultaneously as a hobby, influenced by his elder brother's rock band in which he got acquainted with Roumen Boyadjiev. And all this happened till 1978, when Alexander Baharov invited him to participate in one of the numerous studio records of FSB. |
| "THE CHANGE OF GENRE WAS NOT STRESSFUL TO ME AND NOW I CLAIM THIS IS THE ONLY THING I WANTED TO DO AND WOULD DO AGAIN." |
The studio work preciseness built up from the virtuoso violinist a perfect guitarist "in movement". The daily playing, the unsparing record tape to errors and inaccuracies and the professional surroundings improved his level, increased his experience and in 1979 Ivan Lechev became member of the quintet FSB. The final step was made with the album "The Ball". It was only natural for engagements to follow. The successful start in this field was Gueorgi Stanchev's first album, giving the beginning of the numerous arrangements of Ivan Lechev for almost all Bulgarian pop singers. The talent, both inherited and as dynamics of his professionalism, brought him to author works. Ivan Lechev's compositions are in the repertoire of Lili Ivanova, Gueorgi Minchev, Vili Kavaldjiev, Petya Pavlova, Anna Lozanova, Roberta... |
"LIVE PERFORMANCE - I CAN'T DO WITHOUT IT" |
The thousands of concerts with FSB saw the seed of that magic, called Concert. After the 20 year active concert period with FSB ceased Ivan Lechev again was on stage with "Old Faces", "Zone C", Vassil Petrov, Gueorgi Hristov, Stefan Valdobrev, "Avenue", Arabelle von Karayan, Lili Ivanova. His enigmatic guitar is an unseparable part of the concert and club stickers in Bulgaria. 1994 was the year of the theatre in Ivan Lechev's artistic life. "The Apocalypse... or?" was Nikolay Sotirov's and Boryana Sechanova's production which became his debut as an author of theatrical music. It brought him the first nomination for the theatrical award "Askeer". Then followed "Chekhov's" music to "Three Sisters", put on stage by the theatre "Pantdance" and the music to the contemporary version of "Faust", staged by the "Alternative" theatre. It brought him the second "Askeer" nomination . Ivan Lechev is the author to the music of the TV serial "The Blue Bird", the TV film "Drug", the TV show "The Diary". He won international recognition, receiving invitation to compose music for the Italian feature film "Fertile Year". The release of FSB's "Anthology" and renewal of their concert tours are the occasion for excitement, satisfaction, hope... |
